If you have problem with your Windows XP's "Microsoft Windows Installer" and you find yourself in an inferno of "Error 1601, Error 1603, Error 1719, Windows installer could not be accessed, Windows installer service started then stopped, ..."
if you have re-registered Windows installer and got no result,
if you have re-registered Windows installer and got no result,
if you have re-installed Windows installer with no success,
if you have done all Microsoft advices about how to troubleshoot Microsoft Windows Installer and still the same situation,
if you have searched any online forum and source about repairing, reinstalling and troubleshooting the Microsoft Windows Installer with no clue,
if you have for a thousand times uninstalled, reinstalled, upgraded, downgraded, updated the Microsoft Windows Installer with Microsoft packages like KB893803-v2 or KB942288-v3 and the problem still persists,
if you have not done any of the above,
...... and finally, if you feel helpless and jaded and are going to give up Windows XP because of Microsoft Windows Installer doesn't work, take a deep fresh breath and TRY THIS ONE IN YOUR Windows XP:
1- Go to Start Menu.
2- Go to Run.
3- Type Regedit.
4- Go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT.
5- Inside HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT, Go to AppID.
6- Find the key named {000C101C-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}.
7- Try to delete it. If can't delete, right click on it and go to permissions and allow full control. Now, again try to to delete (you have to delete it!).
8- After deleting it, make a ".reg" file including the below content (name it whatever you want):
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppID\{000C101C-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}]
"ServiceParameters"=""
"LocalService"="MSIServer"
[HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\AppID\{000C101C-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}]
"ServiceParameters"=""
"LocalService"="MSIServer"
and merge it into the registry (first make a ".txt" file including the above lines and then save it and rename it to ".reg" file. Then right
click on it and choose merge from the drop down menu.)
9- Restart the PC.
10- Look whether the problem has been solved.
11- Enjoy your old WinXP! :)
